Dynamation Project History
Dynamation specialises in the industrial application of process simulation for process analysis, control system studies, verification of safety systems and operator training. The following is a brief summary of some of the projects undertaken by Dynamation or Dynamation personnel during the last five years.
Seal Terminal Simulation
Dynamic modelling, start up and control analysis of the Seal Terminal for the reception and treatment of gas from the Shearwater and Elgin Franklin Area Line. This involved the detailed modelling of two complex gas fired process heaters, including the control systems and Burner Management system
BP Model Audits
This project involved the provision of "Independent" audits of various models used to support critical design decisions.
Woodside Terminal Steam System
Dynamic modelling of a multiple boiler steam system for MW Kellogg (Client Shell Woodside Project, Australia) the Woodside Terminal The project involved expansion of the terminal and the installation of waste heat steam generators. The simulation was required to evaluate the operability of design options and to develop a robust control system.
Interconnector Direct Access
Dynamic modelling and control analysis for Kvaerner Process Interconnector project to allow North Sea Elgin Franklin Sheerwater field to directly export gas into the Interconnector pipeline between Britain and Belgium.
Karsto Utbyggings steam system
Dynamic modelling and control analysis of multiple-boiler steam plant for M.W. Kellogg (Client Statoil, Norway), with particular attention to operability on incorporating of new units.
Britannia training simulator
Simulation engineering of full North Sea Topsides operator training simulator to the Conoco-Chevron Britannia platform. The process from wellheads to export compression was simulated, including separation, gas dehydration, export compression and condensate pumping, as well as all subsystems and utilities. Compressors were delivered a full emulation of the CCC controls used in the installation.
Dow Corning training simulator
Provision of simulation engineering for chemicals plant operator training simulator for a large-scale silicon manufacturing development for Dow Corning, Barry, Wales. Processes include distillation, fluidised bed reaction and compression.
Cusiana slug-catcher control and training (various)
Dynamic simulation study of Cusiana Slug-Catcher and related facilities (SCARF) including detailed modelling of slugging flowlines for BP Exploration (Colombia); delivery of control room operator training system connected to replica Allen Bradley control system; control study to identify level and pressure control enhancements; provision of plant simulator and consultancy for acceptance testing during implementation of revised control system.
Abson Compression station control
Dynamic simulation study of the Abson compression station for the new Scottish & Southern Energy power station to verify the compressor control strategy, for Kvaerner John Brown.
BECHTEL LNG compression
Conceptual design dynamic simulation of large-scale gas compression plant including Propane and mixed refrigerant compression systems: recycle valve sizing, start up and trip analysis for Bechtel Ltd.
Hull DF compressor control
Simulation and Process Control study of BP Chemicals Hull DF Plant replacement air compressors for KHACE Ltd. (Main contractor Kvaerner John Brown).
Tioxide Calciner fan control
Simulation and Process Control study of the Tioxide Ltd. Calciner waste-gas process including models of parallel variable speed motor driven fans for KHACE Ltd.
ADNOC Sahil compressor control and blowdown analysis
Simulation of ADNOC Sahil natural gas LP/HP compression systems: recycle valve sizing, trip and blow down analysis for Bechtel Ltd.
Eurogen co-generation plant training simulator
Full training simulator of Eurogen (Rotterdam, Netherlands) co-generation plant including gas turbine, auxiliary firing, heat recovery and steam generation and downstream distribution. Implemented in Cape Software’s VPLink and connected to a Foxboro I/A training console.
British Gas training simulator
Training simulator model of Hannibal gas plant, Tunisia, comprising stabilisation, amine unit, coldbox and related process areas for operator training prior to re-scheduled startup.
Cusiana Phase 2 re-injection compression
Full modelling of separation process and reinjection compressors for use in analysing operation during various failures and disturbances.
Heineken brewery training simulators
Two brewhouse-training simulators for Heineken Technical Services, Netherlands, implemented in Cape Software’s VPLink, under contract to Cape Software. The simulators, intended for training operators in new far-eastern breweries, included malt and rice handling, kettles, filtration and cleaning-in-place system, and were connected to an Allen Bradley control system running in conjunction with a Fix DMACS operator interface,
Hull Thermox reactor and steam system simulation
Dynamic simulation model of the BP Chemicals Hull steam mains and new Thermox reactor, for use in analysing process behaviour during cyclic disturbances and quantifying peak pressures, flows and temperatures.
